Junta forces arrest 4 Kyaukphyu residents, release one



The  junta forces on 21 March arrested four local residents searching for food items in Kulabar village under  Kyaukphyu township of Rakhine State and later released one of them.

 

Those who are still under junta custody include U Soe Thein Naing (aged 35), U Kyaw Kyaw (33) and U Aung Naing Win (aka U La Pu, 27). The individual who was released later is U Su Maung (47).

 

A Kulabar villager informed Narinjara News that all four men were arrested by a military junta column with their hands tied behind their backs from Wah Taung Chey mountain, which is close to Kulabar village at around 12 pm.

 

"They went to Wah Taung Chey in search of food items. They encountered a military column and were later arrested with their hands tied behind their backs. U Su Maung was released halfway in the evening," he added.

 

U Su Maung  revealed that the soldiers beat all of them. He was released by 4 pm. The locals stated that they are  unaware of the whereabouts of three villagers.

 

The family members informed Narinjara News that they are worried as they have no information about the three individuals.
