AA captures 552nd battalion based in Buthidaung

The Arakan Army (AA) has fully captured the 552nd light infantry battalion in Buthidaung township, located on the western border of Rakhine State, at 12 pm on Monday following a month-long offensive, said a statement.

The AA fighters launched an offensive against the Buthidaung-based 552nd battalion under the 15th military operations command (MOC-15) at 8:35 am on 24 February. After 32 days of heavy fighting the  junta's army and air force personnel bowed down to AA fighters on 25 March.

The statement also added that along with many bodies of soldiers, some surrendered enemies, weapons, and ammunition were recovered. The  AA fighters are actively chasing down the soldiers who are still trying to escape.

The AA offensive is now being accelerated to fully capture the Kyein Chaung border guard outpost in Maungdaw township of Rakhine State.

They launched an offensive against the Ta Man Thar outpost in Maungdaw.

On 25 March, the junta forces  comprising about 100 individuals from the outpost, were defeated by the AA fighters and subsequently they surrendered to the AA.

The surrendered soldiers are given good care as their number is increasing along with their families from the Rakhine and Paletwa regions. Now the AA fighters are looking for other military camps to bring under their control.
