Taungup Myoma police station commander deserts weapon, flees

Senior inspector San Nyunt, station commander of Taungup Myoma police station in Rakhine State, has deserted his weapon and fled on Wednesday.

A police officer informed Narinjara News that the police station commander, a native of Ma-Ei town, fled from the office  at around 8 am on 3 April  without taking any weapon with him.

"He fled without taking any weapon. He is a gentleman and seems to  have no other issues. However, he had some problems with the police superintendent. Many believe that's why he ran away," added the police officer.

After learning about the commander’s fleeing, the authorities searched both the entrance and exit gates of Taungup township. Even after conducting a thorough search they did not find him.

After the incident, the police superintendent Kyaw Zin Thant warned the entire police station staff.

Taungup superintendent Kyaw Zin Thant has been transferred from the military and he is known for his oppressive behaviour towards the employees including the station commander.

Earlier some police officers also fled from the station and many others are preparing to resign from their positions.
