Four Kyaukphyu youths arrested by junta soldiers during ambush patrolling

Four young people from Kyaukphyu township of Rakhine State have been  arrested by the junta soldiers during an ambush patrolling.

The arrested youths namely  Ko Nay Toe (aged 20), Ko Zin Myint Tun (20), Ko Tin Maung Naing (22) and Ko Chan Myint Zaw (24) hail from Kulabar Taung village.

A local resident informed Narinjara News that they were arrested during an ambush patrolling at the intersection of the entry point to Si Maw village. It happened while they were returning with two motorcycles at around 2 pm on 11 April.

"The soldiers have been conducting ambush patrols near the village for four to five days," added the resident.

A local villager said that the youths were  riding motorcycles from Saing Chon Dwain village of  Thit Poke Taung sub-town to return back to their native village (Kulabar Taung). They are now under the military custody at Dhanyawadi naval base.

"Recently, a villager was arrested and taken to a nearby area of Dhanyawadi naval base. We're worried about their arbitrary arrest,” stated the resident.

On 6 April, U Wai Tin Aung from Si Maw village, who had returned after fleeing the war, was arrested by the soldiers from Dhanyawadi naval  base.
