Many IDP
camps in Rakhine State are now facing food shortages due to the lack of
domestic and foreign assistance.
An official
from Minbya IDP camp stated that there were days when the displaced
persons in certain villages had to eat one meal with half of rice grains.
"Livelihood
is very difficult here. Many people are starving as they are not getting
assistance," added the official.
After they encountered difficulties, a group offered them support in the form of roughly 60,000 Kyats, but this sum is insufficient to provide displaced people with enough food on a daily basis.
They are
now living in tarpaulins and the concern for their health is only
increasing.
An IDP camp
supports over 2,000 displaced persons who came from Pauktaw township. For the security reasons, Narinjara News refrains from disclosing
the name of villages.
