Artillery shells cause injuries to 3 Pauktaw residents

The artillery shells fired from a military base inSittwe exploded over  Taung Maw Oo village under  Pauktaw township ofRakhine State and injured two Rakhine people and one Muslim.

 

The  shells exploded at around 5 pm on 26 Aprilcausing injuries to Maung Soe Lwin (15 years old) and Ma Nge Ma Chay (16) fromTaung Maw Oo village. A  40-year-old Muslim individual from Ah Nauk Ye IDPcamp also sustained injuries.

 

"The junta forces fired three artillery shells.One landed inside the village and exploded. The two others landed outside.Three houses were also damaged," said a villager.

 

A military camp in Sittwe fired seven artillery shellsnear the village.

 

"They were firing artillery shells even thoughthere was no ongoing fighting. The area is really peaceful, but unfortunatelythe soldiers targeted the village,” he added.

 

On 25 April, a residential house was destroyed by theairstrikes ignited from the military base in Kyauktaw locality.
