Junta forces block Maungdaw's entry & exit points, exchanges fire to kill 2 Rakhine people

 The junta forces have blocked both the entry and exit points of Maungdaw township in Rakhine State on Thursday  and they are now shooting and killing the pedestrians, said local residents.

 

The victims are identified as U Than Lone (50) and U Maung Soe (30) respectively. The motive behind the killings remains unknown.

 

Both were shot dead at the 3-mile checkpoint by 11 am on 9 May, while they were riding a motorcycle from Ywar Thar Yar village

 

 "The junta soldiers blocked Maungdaw’s entry and exit points. A resident of Kha Yae Myaing village and another from Ywar Thar Yar were shot dead by the soldiers at the 3-mile checkpoint. Moreover, they shot at two youths coming from Sar Khone Bote village towards northern Maungdaw areas. Another one was arrested by soldiers," stated a resident.

 

 On 6 May, a group of soldiers belonging to  22nd division arrived in Maungdaw's Kanyin Chaung economic zone using three landing craft. Even the Muslim soldiers, who received military training from the junta forces, destroyed four bridges in Maungdaw township using mine attacks. "

 

The Maungdaw people, who need to escape from the conflicts, start  using all other  available roads. The soldiers are also shooting over those fleeing residents,” said a local resident.
