The junta forces have threatened to kill anyone leaving their houses after 9 pmstarting from 31 May in Maungdaw, situated on the western border of ArakanState, said local residents, adding that death threats were conveyedthrough the local administrators.
"On 31 May, local administrators conveyed to usthat the junta soldiers will kill anyone leaving their houses after 9 pm,"stated a Maungdaw resident.
The junta forces are currently stationed at Wi Ma Lapost primary school in Myo Ma (north) ward and the post primary school inMyo Ma (west) ward. Various religious buildings in Maungdaw town are also usedby the junta soldiers to monitor the residents.
"They are stationed in several locationsacross Maungdaw town, including Dat village school, Myo Ma markets, etc. Theyare monitoring the pedestrians and individuals at tea shops, " added theresident.
In Maungdaw, the border guard personnel were removedfrom the locations, where the fleeing personnel were stationed. Instead, thereinforced soldiers belonging to 22nd and 33rd divisions are now stationedthere.
