The ArakanArmy (AA) asked the residents of downtown Maungdaw area in the westernpart of Arakan State toleave their houses urgently and also avoid staying in buildings stationed bythe junta forces.
In a statement issued on 16 June, the AA claimed thatthe AA fighters have completely seized nearly all the SAC’s military camps inMaungdaw, located near the Bay of Bengal.
It also added that Maungdaw had been used by the juntasoldiers as a military base and prepared extensively for urbanwarfare.
As the AA fighters continue their offensivesagainst the remaining bases, the Maungdaw residents are advised to avoidstaying in the areas like roads & houses, where junta soldiers hadfortified positions.
It asserted that the AA fighters have already capturedmost of the military bases in Maungdaw locality adjacent to the Bay of Bengal.Moreover, they have surrounded the military camps in and around Maungdaw formany days now.
Due to concerns for the safety of the residents ofMaungdaw, the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army urgently advised all residents to evacuate the downtownMaungdaw area immediately, starting from 9 pm on 16 June.
