Junta helicopter crashes in Yangon, a general die

A military junta’s helicopter crashed at  Hmawbi township of  Yangon which killed a general and a colonel.

The deceased have been identified as general Soe Tin Latt and colonel Mya Thaung (who was the co-pilot). A female pilot and a supervisor were also seriously injured in the crash.

Military junta’s spokesman major general Zaw Min Tun confirmed the incident while talking to VOA News. He opined that the accident took place because of bad weather shortly after taking off from the Hmawbi air base on Friday afternoon.

 Social media users indicated that the crashed helicopter was a Eurocopter 365.

 Victim Soe Tin Latt was recently promoted from a commander of Magway air forces base to the commander of southern regional air command.
