The junta forces conducted four night airstrikes on two
villages near Kyeintali town under Gwa township of Arakan State killing
two displaced persons and injuring at least six others.
The victims have been identified as Ko Maung Myint Tun (25 years old) and Daw Ma
Lone (58), where the injured individuals
include U Maung Pu (45), U Zaw Thein U (38),
Ma May Zi Hlaing Oo (12), U Maung Maung Win (54) and Daw Than Than Aye (53).
Daw Ma Lone was
staying in Nyaung Pin Kwin village after fleeing from Gyeik Taw village under
Thandwe township.
The airstrikes targeted Zay Di Kwin and Nyaung Pin Kwin
villages, located about 7 miles away from Kyeintali, at around 2 am on 8
August.
A local resident informed that the junta forces used jet
fighters to carry out the strikes.
"These villages are on the route to Thandwe. The junta
forces launched airstrikes four times this morning at around 2 am. It caused
significant damages to the villages,” he added.
At least six local residents were injured by shrapnel.
Moreover, several houses and religious buildings were damaged.
Narinjara News is trying its best to confirm the victims’
details.
A male resident from Chin Kwin village stated that many
villagers left their places after the airstrikes.
"Currently, the phone lines in those areas are not
working,” he added.
Many internally displaced persons from Thandwe are taking
shelter in those villages.
The gun fighting erupted last month in between
areas of Thandwe and Kyeintali towns, which is located 20 miles south of
Thandwe.
