The junta’s airstrikes on Maungdaw town in Arakan
State, which is close to the Bangladesh border, injured four residents
and destroyed several houses.
The injured individuals include U Kyaw Maung (over 80
years old) hailing from ward number 1, U Tun Tun (53) from Ah Lel village, U Ba
Hla (62) from ward number 3 (Wimala) and an unidentified resident.
On 21 August, the junta soldiers carried out
airstrikes on Maungdaw’s urban areas by 9 am with two fighter jets, by 3
pm with a Y-12 aircraft and by 7 pm with another fighter jet.
“The bombs hit many houses, where the four individuals
sustained injuries. They are currently receiving emergency medical care,"
said a resident.
The injured individuals stayed in Maungdaw for various
reasons, where the Arakan Army (AA) members are rescuing the trapped
Arakanese, Muslims and Hindus in phased manners.
A local Muslim informed that the junta's airstrikes on
22 August damaged many houses in Fezi village, around the clock tower.
They conducted airstrikes with the fighter jets from
dawn to dusk on that day. Meanwhile, the AA fighters also launched their
offensive against the 5th border guard police battalion (NaKhaKha-5) near
Maungdaw, while the junta soldiers are defending their bases with intense
airstrikes.
