The military junta sentenced 144 residents of
Byine Phyu village under Sittwe township to three years of imprisonment.
On 30 August, the Sittwe prison special court
sentenced them under section 17(1) of the Unlawful Association Act.
"They were sentenced to three years in prison
each. Most of them are elderly," said a resident.
The junta accused over 200 people from Byine Phyu
village under various sections. Among
them, 144 individuals were sentenced for three years of imprisonment, and 4 of them
were released today, according to people close to them.
Narinjara News is looking for the details of those
imprisoned.
On 29 May, the junta forces raided Byine Phyu village,
killing 76 people and arresting over 300 others, who were later taken to an
interrogation center.
