The meteorologists forecast heavy rainfall in Arakan
mountains and also Arakan State in the next few hours and it may lead to flash
floods.
"On 12 and 13 September, the Arakan mountain areas bordering Magway may
receive rainfall between 300 and 480 mm," said meteorologist Su Su
San on her social media space.
She also noted that Yaw, Salin, Nwetamei, Mone, Mann, Sapoot
and Min Don creeks on the eastern side of Arakan mountains may experience rapid
flows. The creeks flow into Irrawaddy river. The residents in low-lying areas
near these creeks are advised to move to safer places.
Heavy rains affected several regions, including the Arakan
one, causing floods and some casualties as well.
The meteorology and hydrology department reported that
low pressure is created in central and northwestern Myanmar and may impact
lower Sagaing region, northern Magway region, Chin and Arakan States.
The low pressure cell is expected to move towards the
west and finally reach the Bangladesh coast.
Natural disasters like flash floods and landslides may
take place in the affected areas.
The fishermen in creeks and small rivers and also those involved in domestic
navigation and aviation are advised to take necessary precautions.
The department also added that both Chin and Arakan States will receive more
rains over the next few days.
