At 7:40 am on September 26, the junta conducted
airstrikes on Thandwe Town in Arakan State, killing 13 internally displaced
persons (IDPs) and injuring 25 others.
A junta fighter jet targeted the Thandwe
township hall and the natural environment conservation office, causing the
deaths of the IDPs, according to Arakan Army (AA) spokesperson U Khaing Thukha.
“At 7:40 am today, the military junta carried
out airstrikes with a fighter jet, killing 13 IDPs who were sheltering in the
Thandwe Township Hall and injuring 25 others, including children and the
elderly. The injured have been transported to the hospital. Targeting IDPs is a
clear war crime and a blatant violation of the Geneva Convention,” said U
Khaing Thukha.
The list of individuals killed and injured in the airstrikes will be provided once we have the full information.
