Arakanesecalendarist Sayar U Aung Chit, who served as vice-chairman of the Myanmarcalendar advisory board, passed away on 5 October in Yangon. He was 91 yearsold and breathed his last in Thingangyun hospital at 7:45 pm.
Sayar UAung Chit was widely recognized as the publisher of the esteemed annualDanyawady Arakan calendar.
Hiscontributions to the community were beyond the calendar publishing as he wasalso an executive of Myanmar traditional medicine practitioner association andacknowledged as a senior literary scholar by the Myanmar writers association.Additionally, he served as the patron of the Arakan magazine committee.
Hisaccomplishments included receiving Tan Khoe Sayar Tun lifetime achievementaward for literature and he was honored with the title of Sasana Dhaja DhammaCariya.
His family informed the friends about his passing away andstated that they would provide further details regarding the cremation time anddate.
His final departurewas grieved by the Arakanese community where many writers and social activistsexpressed their condolences. They mourned the loss of Sayar U Aung Chit onbehalf of the Arakanese people living across the globe.
