The Arakan Army (AA) released a statement on 7 Octoberrevealing that the junta forces destroyed Ku Lar Pyin (Yada Myaint) bridge with a mine attack beforeretreating to Gwa town. It happened soon after the AA fighters capturedtwo military camps in southern Arakan State.
The AA fighters seized the military camps occupied bythe junta soldiers in Kaing Khon and Kan Kaw Taung on 6 October followinga week of intense fighting in the Kyeintali region.
After the camps fell, the junta soldiers detonatedexplosives to destroy the middle portion of the bridge, which crosses over Kyeintali creek, at around 2:30 am on 7 October.
Despite defending their positions around Kyeintaliwith support from the army, navy and air force personnel, the junta hadsuffered significant defeats. Now the said bridge, used by local residents as avital route, is destroyed by them.
The AA statement also indicated that their fighterswere chasing the junta soldiers, who retreated to Gwa after the bridge'sdestruction.
