Junta Airstrikes on Taungup's Chin Village Kill Four, Including Two Teenage Girls, and Injures Four More

On November 19, the  junta air force conducted air attacks on a village occupied by Chin community in Taungup Township, Arakan State, even though there was no ongoing combat.

The assault resulted in the death of four individuals, including two females older than 10 years. 

The individuals who passed away were Ma Pa Pa Aye Khin, 13, Ma Daisy Myint, 14, Ma Shwe Yi Win Wah, 25, and Ko Yin Ko, 28, all residents of Thin Chi Kain village in Taungup Township. 

The wounded individuals have been named as Ma Nilar Htwe, aged 25, U Ba Chit, aged 76, U Zin Ko Oo, aged 33, and U Tin Aye, aged 73, also from Thin Chi Kain village. 

Within this group, there are siblings Ma Pa Pa Aye Khin and Ko Yin Ko, as well as their father U Tin Aye who is also seriously injured. The other two deceased women are cousins as well. The bombs hit their closely situated homes. 

“Around 10:00 am that morning, a bomb was dropped even though there was no combat happening. The military regime has been conducting airstrikes throughout the region with the use of Y-12 aircraft and fighter jets.  Four people died in the village due to a bomb explosion that day,”  a female resident of Taungup reported.

A man from Taungup informed Narinjara News that the military regime is purposely attacking residences, educational institutions, and places of worship with airstrikes. 

“They are purposely aiming airstrikes at large buildings, schools, and monasteries. I believes they are focusing on civilians as retaliation for their military failures, He stated.

From the beginning of November's second week, the junta has been carrying out airstrikes and artillery attacks in Taungup, resulting in extensive destruction. Approximately 10 homes located near the Shwe Taung ice factory at Thandwe intersection in Kan Paing ward were destroyed by fire. Furthermore, artillery shells caused damage to Thein Taung kindergarten, Kanbawza bank, Kan Paing monastery, and a school in Kan Day village, as well as parts of Gu Tar ward and Thein Taung ward. 

Narinjara News has learned that a minimum of 10 individuals were harmed in Taungup lately as a result of the military regime's artillery bombardment. 

The  Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office (HDCO) announced that more than 700 individuals lost their lives in the year-long Arakan conflict at the hands of the junta and its partners.
