The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) released a statement on December 3, offering a ceasefire and dialogue with the military regime to address four essential points.
The four points are:
1. To empathize with the interests of innocent people suffering greatly from the conflict.
2. To protect and maintain peace and stability along the China-Myanmar border.
3. To resolve internal military conflicts through political means.
4. To effectively implement regional peace.
The declaration affirmed that the MNDAA will cease fire at its existing locations beginning December 3 and will refrain from initiating any attacks on junta forces.
Although the MNDAA advocates for a political resolution, the statement highlighted that it will persist in asserting its right to self-defense, as it has done historically.
The statement further explained that the MNDAA intends to stay within the country, without pursuing secession or creating a new state, while steadfastly safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The MNDAA also asserted that it is solely seeking a genuine self-governing area.
The MNDAA conveyed optimism that pertinent matters, such as those related to Lashio, may be settled through discussions brokered by China and committed to supporting China's mediation efforts.
Furthermore, the MNDAA urged the military government to stop its aerial bombardments and ground assaults throughout Myanmar.
The declaration also conveyed optimism that the disputes and disagreements between the two sides can be settled through diplomatic efforts.
The MNDAA has taken control of multiple townships in northern Shan State, such as Lashio Town, which hosts the Northeastern Command, along with Laukkai. At present, the Chinese government is pressuring the MNDAA to consent to a truce with the military junta, and sources indicate that the MNDAA leader is confined to house arrest in China.
