During November 2024, at least 61 women werekilled in military conflicts across Myanmar, where Arakan State recorded the second-highestnumber of casualties after Shan State, claims Burmese Women's Union (BWU).
The BWU released its women’s information fact-sheetfor November on Thursday.
The report, based on media monitoring and datacollected by the BWU, provides information on the number of women killed acrossthe country between 1 and 30 November last.
Among the women victims, 37 were killed in junta airstrikes, 16 byartillery shelling, five byextrajudicial killings, two by landminesand one by fire.
The deaths due to military conflicts were scheduledas 15 women from Shan State, 13 from Arakan State, 11 from Mandalay region and10 from Sagaing region.
Moreover 63 women were also injured in the last month. Out of them, 42 were injured in airstrikes, 16by artillery shelling, two by extrajudicial killings, two after rape and one byfire.
Among the 42 women injured in airstrikes, northernShan State had the highest number of wounded women (11) reported in November.
