The military junta in Myanmar has intensified airstrikes targeting civilian areas within territories held by the Arakan Army (AA) and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), which are both part of the Three Brotherhood Alliance (3BHA). 

According to the PSLF/TNLA, between January 21 and 22, nine civilians, comprising three women, lost their lives in areas under TNLA control. 

In a statement, the PSLF/TNLA indicated that on January 22, around 11:30 am, the junta air force released two bombs from a fighter jet aimed at the Naungcho police station and Parami Tea Shop. The assault resulted in the deaths of three women and five men. 

The statement mentioned, “On the morning of January 22, airstrikes by the junta resulted in the deaths of three local women and five men, injured one individual, and caused damage to two residences and a police station." 

A comparable assault took place on January 21 at 2:00 pm, when junta planes struck the township administration office and the general administration office in Naungcho Town. The airstrikes resulted in the death of one resident and left two others injured. 

             

The junta has conducted multiple airstrikes on civilian regions in AA-held Arakan State, leading to the fatalities of at least 60 civilians just in January. 

On January 8, air raids on Kyauk Ni Maw village in Ramree Township resulted in the death of 26 individuals, while at least 10 lost their lives in Kyauktaw Town on January 11. 

On January 18, 2025, the terrorist military junta executed three aerial assaults on a prisoner of war detention facility in Yan Chaung, Mrauk-U Township, resulting in the deaths of 28 women and children and wounding 25 more. 

“On January 18, 2025, fighter jets from the fascist military junta bombed a site near Yan Chaung, Mrauk-U Township, where family members of enemy prisoners of war were detained. The airstrikes led to the fatalities of 28 women and children, while 25 others were injured,” said a statement from the AA.

The continuous airstrikes have increased concerns among civilians, as the junta persists in striking non-military zones. 

At the same time, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), part of the Three Brotherhood Alliance, entered into a ceasefire agreement with the junta that takes effect on January 18.
