On January 30, the resistance forces of the people ambushed a junta military convoy in Natogyi Township, Myingyan District, Mandalay Region, resulting in the death of 21 junta soldiers, including a captain, and the capture of 8 others alive, as reported by the 1st Military Region.
A total of 50 junta troops, comprising police battalions along with the 14th and 15th light infantry battalions from Division 99, were commanded by Major Yan Lin Aung and Captain Aung Zaw Min. They departed from Pyin Si village in Natogyi Township, Myingyan District, on the morning of January 30 and came under attack from the people's resistance forces between Mya Taung village and Sein Pan Kan village.
A joint force of the People's Defense Force (PDF) Myingyan District Battalion 4 and Battalion 10 intercepted the military column of the junta.
In the course of the combat, the resistance forces of the people retrieved 21 corpses of junta soldiers, among them Captain Aung Zaw Min. Major Yan Lin Aung subsequently passed away due to injuries incurred during the withdrawal.
The announcement also verified that eight soldiers from the junta were taken prisoner alive.
The confiscated arms and munitions comprised three MA-1s, four MA-2s, six MA-3s, two MA-4s, one MA-5, six MA-11s, twelve G-3s, two G-4s, one BA-94, one short-barrel 60 mm mortar, one long-barrel mortar, 29 grenades of 60 mm, five Energa grenades, nine pineapple grenades, 305 rounds of 9 mm, and ten helmets.
The report mentioned that during the conflict, one Mi-35 helicopter from Tada-U executed three airstrikes.
