Junta members have been progressively commandeering civilian trucks for transport after their military vehicles have faced landmine assaults from resistance groups.
A source in Padaung informed Narinjara News, "Similar to Oke Shit Pin Town, civilian trucks in Padaung are currently being utilized more often for delivering food and supplies. As military vehicles increasingly fall victim to landmine assaults, local-owned civilian trucks are being seized more frequently. I think they are taking this action to harm individuals if their cars are intercepted on the highway."
A resident driver in Padaung mentioned that trucks belonging to locals operating between Padaung Town and Oke Shit Pin Town in the Bago Region have turned into a main target for junta forces.
He stated, "This has been occurring since January. Currently, they are not just being detained but also exploited for coerced work. Trucks, especially those that are 16 feet long transporting vegetables from the countryside to Oke Shit Pin Town, have been confiscated. The junta is converting these trucks for military purposes, inflicting pain on the population."
Residents indicated that soldiers from the 88th Division have been commandeering vehicles at the Pandaung 92 intersection, linking Padaung Town to Oke Shit Pin Town. The confiscated vehicles are held at Sinte KaPaSa and subsequently converted for military use.
Additionally, it has been reported that ward administrators created a list of civilian-owned vehicles along with their owners in Padaung Township on February 4, forwarding the lists to military authorities.
The junta troops are utilizing these trucks in their military bases and battalions in Padaung Town, using them as required.
In Oke Shit Pin Town, officials, military personnel, and law enforcement have been creating a registry of trucks, cars, and the residences of their owners since January 26. These vehicles are utilized as forced labor to move food, weapons, and troops to areas where conflict has erupted.
