AAPP Reports Junta Executes 45 Civilians in Arakan State in Two Months

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) announced on March 11 that junta assaults have resulted in the deaths of 45 citizens in Arakan State during the last two months.

Data gathered by the AAPP indicates that between January 1 and March 11, 2025, the junta murdered 45 individuals in Arakan State, comprising 24 women, 21 men, and 12 children under 18 years old. The victims' identities have been verified.

According to the statement, of the 45 deaths, 40 resulted from junta airstrikes, identifying aerial attacks as the primary cause of fatalities.

On March 9, at approximately 1 am, junta forces executed an airstrike on Ba Win village in Gwa Township, Arakan State, instantly killing U Tun Aung Thein due to bomb shrapnel.

The statement additionally noted that U Tun Aung Thein's son and daughter sustained severe injuries from bomb shrapnel and are currently undergoing emergency medical care.

Moreover, the AAPP reported that from the onset of the military coup on February 1, 2021, until March 11, 2025, a cumulative total of 6,399 democracy supporters and civilians have lost their lives during the Spring Revolution at the hands of the junta and its associates.

The AAPP additionally stated that 28,800 individuals have been detained in relation to the coup. Out of these, 22,021 are still in custody, while 10,582 have been incarcerated.
