Junta troops have detained over 10 displaced persons who were coming back from Okeshitpin Town in the Bago Region to Taungup Township in Arakan State.
According to local residents, those who were arrested included both young women and men, as well as adult men and women.
Local inhabitants informed Narinjara News that the displaced people had escaped to Okeshitpin Town amid the conflict for Taungup Town and were captured by junta troops on March 11 while attempting to go back home. The apprehensions occurred close to Nyaungchayhtauk village in Okeshitpin Town, where junta troops were concealing themselves.
A local inhabitant stated that the detained persons were bound with ropes at their backs, assaulted, and transported to a weapons manufacturing plant (KaPaSa) close to Nyaungchayhtauk village.
"Initially, they were brought to Nyaungkyoe and subsequently to Nyaungchayhtauk KaPaSa. Their hands were bound behind them, and they were beaten. I felt concern due to the presence of young women among the detainees," he stated.
The local mentioned witnessing over 10 displaced persons being apprehended, though he was unaware of their identities or origins.
