The enhancement of Sittwe Port is an essential component of the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project (KMTTP), a significant effort designed to serve as a multi-modal transport corridor along the Kaladan River connecting India and Myanmar.

On the night of March 24, a delegation consisting of four members, headed by Lieutenant General Joel 'JB' Vowell, Deputy Commanding General of the Hawaii-based United States Pacific Command (USARPAC), reached Dhaka International Airport at approximately 10:00 pm.
The delegation conducted talks with high-ranking Bangladeshi military personnel about the security circumstances at the Bangladeshi border. They also investigated the possible outcomes of a significant attack by the Arakan Army (AA) focused on seizing the towns of Sittwe, Kyaukphyu, and Manaung.
