The initial shipment of aid from India for the earthquake survivors in Myanmar reached its destination and was delivered to Myanmar on the afternoon of March 29, according to a statement from the Indian Embassy in Myanmar.
The initial delivery of relief assistance was presented to Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein by Ambassador Abhay Thakur in Yangon on Saturday.
The emergency assistance consists of blankets, tarps, cleaning products, solar lamps, food parcels, and cooking tools, in addition to search and rescue crews and medical teams, according to the statement.
India has worked with Myanmar's authorities to fast-track the provision of assistance and relief supplies after the powerful earthquake that hit yesterday.
The Indian Embassy in Myanmar maintains communication with the Indian community and has released a statement indicating that in the event of an emergency, Indian citizens should reach out to +95-95419602.
