Two additional minor aftershocks have struck Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw, both of which were seriously impacted by the earthquake on March 28.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced in a press release today that the earthquake in Mandalay registered at 4.7 on the Richter scale.
The earthquake's epicenter was located roughly 18 miles southwest of the Mandalay Seismological Station (approximately 3 miles southeast of Tada U).
The declaration from Moezala indicates, "On April 1, 2025, at (17) hours, (31) minutes, (50) seconds Myanmar Standard Time, a minor earthquake registering (4.7) on the Richter scale was recorded and located at (21.78) degrees North, (95.99) degrees East, and (16) kilometers deep in Myanmar (approximately (3) miles southeast of Tada U town) around (18) miles southwest of the Mandalay Seismological Station.”
Likewise, a minor earthquake registering (4.9) on the Richter scale was noted in Nay Pyi Taw at 1:00 PM on April 1.
The earthquake happened on April 1, at (13) hours, (12) minutes, (13) seconds, with its epicenter in Myanmar (approximately (5) miles north-northeast of Pubbathiri Township), roughly (13) miles north-northeast of the Nay Pyi Taw Earthquake Station, as reported by Mozala.
The following aftershocks have raised worries among nearby residents, with numerous individuals allegedly dwelling outdoors instead of remaining inside.
