On the morning of April 13, the eve of Thingyan, a major traditional festival, the military junta's air forces targeted a residential neighborhood in Kyauktaw, located 80 miles north of the state capital Sittwe, injuring three women and damaging six houses, confirmed AA spokesperson U Khaing Thu Kha.
The three hurt women were recognized as Ma Kyi Kyi Win (27), child of UU Saw; Ma Chit Hnin Wai (10), child of U Hla Aye Maung, and Ma U Than May, 24, daughter of U Khin Maung Hla.
The injuries reported included a fractured left elbow for Ma Kyi Kyi Win, an injured arm and leg for Chit Hlin Wai, and a fractured skull for Than May.
"On 13/4/2025, at 9:27 am, a jet fighter from the junta released two 500-pound bombs on Kyauktaw. They landed in a residential area close to Shwe Kyaung Monastery, Pyidaw Thar Ward, Kyauktaw. Three women sustained injuries, and six homes were wrecked," U Khaing Thu Kha stated in his email response to Narinjara News.
Luckily, there were no fatalities, but the homes suffered significant damage.
Following the military council's bombing of a residential area in Kyauktaw on the morning of April 13, just before Thingyan, the AA's Arakan People's Government is said to be urging individuals to adhere closely to the six rules established for the Thingyan period.
