Reports indicate that a civilian was killed and 21 individuals, among them children, were injured due to a sequence of nighttime bombings conducted by the military council in Kyauktaw, Rakhine State, located 80 miles north of the state capital, Sittwe.

The military council launched approximately six rockets, comprising four 500-pound and 300-pound bombs, targeting Kyauktaw, the town currently governed by the Arakan Army (AA), between 2:30 am and 3 am on April 19.

The locations targeted by bombs this morning, April 19, included the Cooperative Office, Kyauktaw (Kata) 6th Street, 7th Street, 8th Street, Pyidawthar Ward, Myothit Ward, Shan Ywa Ward, and several other areas.

The airstrike resulted in the death of U Kyaw Zaw Chey (B), aged 38, residing on No. 6 Street.

U Aung Htun Myat (44), an IDP from Buthidaung, and U Maung Than Win (50), hailing from Maungdaw, sustained serious injuries all over their bodies.

Maung Khaing Myat Lin (12) from Myothit Ward sustained a back injury, his father U Kyaw Win Htun also suffered a back injury, and Maung San Kyaw Win (9) from Myothit Ward incurred a back injury.

Individuals with minor injuries included U Maung Bu Chey (51), who sustained an injury to his right thigh; his wife Daw Ma Mya Yi (48), who was hurt in her left arm; and their son Maung Phyo Min Thein (8), who suffered an injury to his head.

On April 13, the military council targeted the Ywama area in Kyauktaw town with jet aircraft, resulting in injuries to three women and the destruction of approximately five houses.

The junta carried out additional air strikes across Myanmar during the 20 days of the unilateral ceasefire declared by junta officials from April 2 to April 22 .
