According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), on May 1, more than 500 individuals in Rakhine have been killed and over 450 have been detained by the military in the four years since the coup.
According to the statement, from February 1, 2021, when the military took control, until April 30, yesterday, there have been 569 deaths among the Rakhine people and 452 individuals arrested on political charges by the military council.
The military government has taken the lives of 6,589 individuals across the country, comprising over 1,500 women and upwards of 700 children. Over 2,000 individuals died following their arrest.
The AAPP also stated that the casualty figure has been gathered independently for over 3,000 individuals awaiting confirmation.
The military council has detained over 29,000 individuals across the country, including over 6,000 women and over 600 children. Among these, over 22,000 individuals, comprising over 400 women and more than 230 children, continue to be detained.
The military council is bombing civilian villages in Rakhine State almost daily, resulting in fatalities and injuries.
