United League of Arakan (ULA) Cup futsal competition for men/women and Rakhine traditional martial arts (wrestling) event took place in Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday, May 4.
The tournament was organized by ARAKAN FC (JP) and took place at the Z Futsal Sports Shim-Misato Stadium in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, on May 4 from 10 am to 9 pm Japan time.
According to ARAKAN FC (JP) Chairman Kosamurai, the tournament is organized to raise funds for donation to internally displaced persons in Rakhine.
"The tournament aims to enhance friendship among the Rakhine community in Japan and to contribute all funds raised from the event to the war refugees in Rakhine," he stated.
The event began with the sound of the Rakhine traditional drum, and Rakhine women showcased traditional dances.
A total of 24 men's squads and 3 women's squads took part in the futsal event, while 5 senior and 5 junior teams participated in the traditional wrestling competition of Rakhine.
The contest received backing from Rakhine and other ethnic communities, with around 600 individuals attending to purchase and enjoy Rakhine cuisine.
On May 5, 2024, the inaugural men's and women's futsal event took place at Grandma Urawa FUTSAL Stadium in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, excluding the Rakhine traditional wrestling contest.
