It has been reported that Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army(ARSA) militants have kidnapped three Muslim individuals in northern Maungdaw Township, located on the western border of Rakhine State.
The apprehended individuals are Mamat Ayu (42), Ko Elias (26), and U Phu Alan (47), hailing from Kyauk Chaung Village in the northern part of Maungdaw Township.
On the night of May 5, approximately 10 individuals from the ARSA militant group entered Kyauk Chaung Village and kidnapped three people, a local Muslim man from Maungdaw informed Narinjara.
“The primary cause for the arrests was that they were accused of providing information to AA. They were brought to an unfamiliar location after being assaulted and detained," he stated.
A local resident in the area informed Narinjara that the Arakan Army (AA) is assisting the villagers who were detained alongside the apprehended ARSA group and is actively looking for them.
"The families of those detained and the villagers have reported to the ULA/AA, and AA is looking for them. They are looking in various locations but have not discovered anything yet," he stated.
While the AA has taken control of Maungdaw town from the military council, residents frequently face ambushes, killings, and arrests by armed terrorist group ARSA,
