Military bombs school in Depayin, killing two teachers and close to 20 children

Residents report that the military council's planes bombed a school in Oh Htein Dwin village, Depayin Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the deaths of two teachers and nearly 20 children who were present at the school.

According to local sources, a military council fighter jet, which bombed the school around 10 am today, May 12, was from the Shan Tae Air Base in Meiktila, located in the Mandalay region.

The White Color People Defense Force also published an image revealing that several students, along with two instructors, lost their lives and numerous others were hurt.

A resident of Depayin stated, "Students attending the school were murdered. At present, we are aware that there were two instructors and 20 students deceased. The number of casualties will rise. It is an extremely harsh and brutal action by the junta. Parents are devastated."

The remains of multiple students and two female teachers have been found, and rescue operations continue for numerous hurt children.

The school is an interim educational institution under the National Unity Government (NUG) located in Oh Htein Dwin North village in the western part of Depayin Township.

It is reported that the school has 12 classrooms for student instruction.

The military council announced a ceasefire from May 6 to May 31; however, the junta's bombings, artillery attacks, and offensives persist throughout the nation.
