The statement indicated that the Taungoo Air Base served as a crucial military air base for the council to carry out war crimes involving bombing and murdering civilians.
"Taungoo Air Base acts as a crucial base for the military council to carry out war crimes against civilians. It is also a military airfield currently engaged in the aerial assaults against the revolutionary functions of the southern revolutionary forces. Consequently, we, the BWM and our partners, are executing BWM Mission 37 by assaulting and subduing the Taungoo (Ketumati) Air Base," the statement indicated.
A subsequent press release after the attack was also released on the morning of May 19.
