The passing of Brigadier General Kyaw Myo Aung (45), the tactical leader of the 11th Infantry Division, who lost his life in the battle of Kyaukphyu in Rakhine state, has been announced in the funeral and obituary notice released by his family.

Reports from the front line indicated that Brigadier General Kyaw Myo Aung was killed alongside another captain during the clash with AA, struck by AA sniper fire on the Kyaukphyu battlefield on May 26.

On May 26, AA snipers killed the tactical commander of the 11th Infantry Division and a captain from the local battalion (543), who had been reinforced from mainland Myanmar to Kyaukphyu; the body of the tactical commander was taken to Yangon on May 27, according to Little Rabbit, which covers Rakhine news, as reported on May 27.

The report also mentions that the clashes near the Kyaukphyu OGT-China gas distribution facility are continuing, and the junta troops are suffering significant casualties, greatly affecting the local governance.

The invitation for the funeral and obituary indicates that Brigadier General Kyaw Myo Aung died in service to the nation on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the first waxing day of the month of Nayon, 1387 Myanmar era.

Brigadier General Kyaw Myo Aung was born in Hmawbi Township, Yangon Region, and is survived by his wife, Daw May Zin Oo (also known as Nyo Ma).

The conflict between the Arakan Army (AA) and the junta forces is fierce in Kyaukphyu, where China has significant investments, with the ongoing clashes occurring roughly 5 miles from Kyaukphyu.
