Following a week of conflict between the Myanmar army and the Arakan Army (AA), the AA has successfully taken control of the MPT Tower Plateau outpost, a key position for the Myanmar army, situated on Ann-Padan Road, which lies on Yoma Road Mountain between the Rakhine and Magwe divisions.

An on-site source stated, “The military council claimed it had ceased hostilities and declared a temporary ceasefire from June 1 to 30, yet they continued to launch attacks, violating their commitments. Clashes occurred in the Rakhine Roma mountain region of Magwe division during the ceasefire. Combat occurred near the MPT Tower Plateau outpost for approximately a week. Consequently, the AA initially seized outposts and then the whole hill. Numerous soldiers were killed, and a portion of those left on the hill escaped to the Nattyekan Air Defense Force situated at the summit of the same mountain.

He mentioned that the junta forces in Myanmar incurred significant losses during the clash at the MPT Plateau outpost and that the AA seized some casualties along with weapons and ammunition.

“The junta forces suffered numerous casualties. Some soldiers were captured by the AA. Currently, we are unaware of the position or identity of those in the junta forces. I heard that at least 10 individuals were taken into custody. AA also seized arms and ammunition," he stated.

Numerous members of the army faction also deserted amid the combat, with the majority reportedly being recent recruits who were forced to serve in the junta army due to the Military Public Service Law.

Intensified fighting between the AA and junta troops commenced on May 27 near the MPT tower outpost on the Ann-Padan Road.

As of June 3, military sources on the ground report that the AA has fully seized the entire MPT Tower plateau.

On the morning of June 3, intense combat occurred between the AA and the 99th Division, which moved into areas controlled by the AA.

Local sources report that the military council is actively restocking hundreds of soldiers and munitions on military vehicles via the Magway Kapasa (Defense Manufacturing Factory) and Son Kone plateau artillery units.

At present, only a single air defense unit, the largest and strongest strategic base, remains in the Arakan Yoma mountain range between Ann, Rakhine, and Padan along the Magwe mountain pass road.

Military sources reported that the military council and three allied groups, including the AA, announced a ceasefire in response to earthquake-related events; however, the military council has continued to engage in combat, and the AA is counterattacking, leading to skirmishes in various regions across Myanmar.
