The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) has reportedly regained control of the well-known Te Baw Boe army camp along the Myanmar-Thai border, after 28 years. In 1997, the Myanmar military took control of KNU’s Te Baw Boe camp.

The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) carried out an assault on the Te Baw Boe military camp located on the Thai-Myanmar border in Myawaddy Township, Karen State, on the evening of June 3.

The Karen National Union (KNU) announced in a press release on June 4, “The Te Baw Boe camp, occupied by the military council since 1997 in the Kawthule Administrative Region, Doo Pla Ya District, Brigade (6), Kawkareik Township, was reclaimed by the Karen National Liberation Army (K.N.L.A.), Karen National Defense Force (K.N.D.O.) and People’s Defense Force (P.D.F.), under the leadership of Brigade (6) on June 3, 2025 at (11:00 p.m.).”

In the fight to regain the Te Baw Boe camp, a substantial quantity of arms, such as 120 mm and Point 5 heavy weaponry, were taken from the military council forces.

A source from Karen stated, “The military has suffered almost 30 losses. There have been surrenders, and some individuals have fled to Thailand. The area is being cleared at the moment. We are optimistic that the military bases will be seized by the end of this month."

In the offensive, the military council deployed three jet fighters and two Y-12s, amounting to five aircraft, to conduct bombings and support operations, while the Walleyes army camp supplied heavy weaponry from the ground; however, the KNLA successfully attacked and took control of the Te Baw Boe camp.

Along the Myanmar-Thai border, the following regions were also targeted: Manel Plaw, Htei Khe, Htei Hta, Pu Lu Tu, Khle De, Takho Be Kwe, Maw Pha Thu Camp, Ta Le Camp, Mae La, Blek Do, Maw Khe, Bayint Naung Camp. The KNU is reclaiming camps one by one, such as Kanay Lay and Shwe Mya Myint Aung, with only four old camps remaining to capture along the border.

The camps yet to be taken are identified as Uk Rit Hta, Wol Lay Strategic Hill, Ti Thay Le Camp, and Htee Ka Pal Camp.
