The military council, which announced a ceasefire to safeguard the lives and property of citizens, actually bombed two villages in Thandwe Township, Rakhine State, using jet fighters at night, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including a 12-year-old girl, and injuring eight others, six of whom sustained serious injuries.
The air force targeted the old military recruitment center in Thandwe and schools in Kyaw Gyi and Pazun Phray villages that were housing displaced individuals, all without any conflict.
In the bombing of Kyaukkyi village, U Htun Htun Win (42), Daw Hnin Wai Khaing (43), and Ma April Moe (12) from a family residing in Kyaukkyi village of Sin Din Gyi village lost their lives, while Daw Apu (48) from Maung Shwe Lay village, who was in Kyaukkyi village, was also killed.
Furthermore, eight individuals from Kyaukkyi village sustained injuries, with six reported to be in critical condition.
Residents reported that a junta jet dropped two bombs on Kyaukkyi village on June 7, first at 10:14 pm and again at 10:25 pm.
Moreover, a military council air force fighter jet attacked the Pazun Fray village school twice at 10:15 pm, wounding two civilians.
The airstrikes reportedly damaged schools in the villages of Kyaw Kyi and Pazun Fray, along with numerous nearby houses.
At 10:38 pm, the junta's fighter jets released four additional bombs on the old junta's recruitment center located between No. 8/A, (6), and (7) streets in Thandwe town.
There were no individuals present in the buildings, thus no injuries occurred.
On May 31, the junta declared a temporary cease to hostilities from June 1 to 30 to support relief and recovery initiatives in regions affected by the earthquake.
The statement indicated that the Tatmadaw (Myanmar Army) would take action as needed to safeguard the people from ethnic armed groups that are ruining lives and properties; however, in truth, the revolutionary forces are not destroying lives and properties, but instead it is the Tatmadaw which is conducting violent bombing assaults on villages where innocent civilians reside.
In May, during the ceasefire, junta airstrikes in Rakhine state resulted in the deaths of at least 20 civilians. Among them, 12 were from Tun Ra Wai old village in Rathedaung Township and 9 from Kyauktaw in Rakhine State.
