In Myeik-Dawei district, two residents, including a 10-year-old boy, were reportedly killed, and six others injured during nationwide airstrikes, while the military council announced a temporary ceasefire for an additional month.
The Karen National Union (KNU) announced on June 8 that villagers were killed and wounded when bombs fell on Kyauk Ai (Ku Lay) village, Kaw Thu Leh Administrative Area, Ka Se Do Township, Myeik-Dawei district, at approximately 10:55 am on June 7.
The deceased were identified as Saw Than Win Htwe (10) and U Than Aung (55), and six additional individuals were hurt with their residences ruined, according to the statement.
In Thandwe township of Rakhine State, where there was no conflict, the junta bombed three locations around 10 pm on June 7, resulting in four deaths, including a 12-year-old girl, and injuring around 10 more individuals.
The Myanmar Military Council has announced a ceasefire from June 1 to 30, stating it is for the relief and rebuilding of earthquake victims; however, the junta has persisted in conducting airstrikes in various regions of Myanmar, breaching its promises.
