Burmese individuals in Japan, among them the Rakhine community, demonstrated against the Chinese government's involvement in Myanmar's issues and its backing of the military junta.
The Rakhine community in Japan, along with the Kachin, Chin, Karenni, Karen, Shan, Mon, Pa-O, and Palaung ethnic groups, assembled in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya at 11 am local time on June 8.
They demonstrated against the Chinese government's involvement in Myanmar's issues and its capricious dominance over the neighboring country, prioritizing only its benefits.
Moreover, it is reported that the Chinese government is collaborating with the military council to freely extract and transport natural resources from Burma while applying significant pressure on ethnic communities and the Spring Revolution forces.
James Than Lwin, a protest leader, stated, “We Burmese residing in Japan are demonstrating to urgently halt the Chinese government’s meddling in Myanmar’s domestic matters and its backing of the terrorist military that has unlawfully taken control.”
Burmese in the U.S. demonstrated for two straight days on June 6 and 7 outside the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C., opposing the Chinese government's backing of the military council.
The demonstrators urged the Chinese government to cease all types of backing for the unlawful military regime in Myanmar, honor the sovereignty and democracy of the Burmese population, and endorse a true and inclusive peace process that embodies the desires of all Burmese citizens.
On June 8, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the Military Council Chairman, informed the Chinese president that China and Myanmar will collaborate closely to enhance their current friendship and establish a new level of mutually beneficial partnership for many years ahead.
He expressed these comments in a communication with Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 8, 2025, on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Myanmar and China.
Chinese President Xi Jinping stated in his message that China is prepared to collaborate with Myanmar to expedite the realization of the Belt and Road Initiative, the international development plan, the global security framework, and the plan for human civilization, creating a community of shared future between China and Myanmar, and together generating greater benefits for both nations' populations.
The military council has escalated its airstrikes on civilian areas throughout Myanmar following backing from the Chinese government.
