In Kyaukphyu, where fighting is intensifying, AA shells have targeted military council battalions, including the Kyaukphyu military intelligence headquarters and the airport.

A local military source informed Narinjara that shelling incidents have recently affected military council battalions in Kyaukphyu Township, specifically Light Infantry Battalion (542), LIB (543), and Infantry Battalion (34).

"Currently, there are reports of shelling at the 543rd and 542nd battalions. While we haven't heard of any casualties, the barracks have sustained damage. The 542nd battalion has fewer personnel, but the 543rd and 34th battalions, as well as the police battalions and the Kyauk Talone gate, still have many soldiers present," he stated.

On June 15, some AA shells landed near the 34th infantry battalion adjacent to the Kyaukphyu airport.

Additionally, a female military source from Kyaukphyu reported that shells also landed near the military intelligence unit (Sarapa) office close to Kyaukphyu.

"Yesterday, a shell landed near the Sarapa office, but it did not explode, so there were no casualties," she noted. Local residents expressed concern about shells landing so close to the city.

Current fighting in Kyaukphyu is occurring at approximately five locations in the Gone Chwein and Thit Poke Taung areas near the Danyawaddy navy base, according to local sources.

The military council is also expanding its operations to target AA positions in Kyaukphyu Township, including Malakyun Village, where the military council has a base, and the Chinese OGT area, near the No. (32) Police Battalion.

Furthermore, fighting is reported at Pyine Say Kay Village in the Thit Poke Taung area near the Danyawaddy Navy Headquarters, as well as near Kap Tha Pyay Village, according to a military source on the ground.

During the clashes in Kyaukphyu, numerous officers and soldiers from the military council sustained injuries or were killed, and there have also been reports of captured junta forces by the AA.

In May, during the fighting in Kyaukphyu Township, the entire joint force of the military council, comprising the 11th and 99th Divisions, surrendered to the AA.
