A Rakhine migrant worker has won the highest lottery prize in Thailand, amounting to six million baht, according to reports from fellow migrant workers.

The lucky winner is Ko Zin Myo Htun, the son of U Maung Shwe Moe and Daw Soe Soe Kyi from Ruu San Pya Village in Ann Township, Rakhine State. He won the prize, which was announced on June 16.

In a post on his social media page, Ko Zin Myo Htun expressed his hopes for other migrant workers, stating, "May all Myanmar migrant workers win the lottery in the future."

Daw Khin Aye, a Rakhine female migrant worker, expressed her pride and happiness at the news. "We work hard here and don't earn a lot of money, so I'm thrilled to hear this. I wish for other migrant workers to have similar luck with the Thai lottery," she said.

Ko Zin Myo Htun's family won the lottery while working at a sawmill in southern Thailand. The six million baht prize is equivalent to over 800 million Myanmar kyats.

In September 2024, another Rakhine migrant worker from Kyaukphyu Township in Rakhine State also won a prize in the Thai lottery. The Thai lottery is held twice a month, featuring a minimum prize of 2,000 baht and a maximum prize of six million baht.
