Narinjara News, June 28, 2025
Due to security concerns about Kyaukphyu, Rakhine State, the Military Council has relocated significant military records from Kyaukphyu-based battalions, including the police station, to Dhanyawaddy Naval Headquarters, a source close to the local government informed Narinjara.
He stated that the key papers from the office of military intelligence unit (Sarapa), the city police station, the No. (32) Police Battalion, the Light Infantry Battalion (542), the Light Infantry Battalion (543), and the Light Infantry Battalion (32) in Kyaukphyu have been transferred to Dhanyawaddy Naval Headquarters in Thit Pote Taung in June.
"Those are the important documents and equipment from the main military battalions. The Navy transports them from Ngalapwe Port to the Dhanyawaddy Naval Headquarters," he stated.
According to a person familiar with the Rakhine military who spoke to Narinjara, the reason for the transfer to the Dhanyawaddy Naval Headquarters is that if the No. (32) Police Battalion, where the current fighting is taking place, falls to the AA, the other bases (543), (542), and the offices where the military council resides close to the city could easily fall into the hands of the Arakan Army.
"The battle has grown more fierce. They are battling each other. The remaining battalions will be severely hampered in their ability to fight if the No. 32 Police Battalion fails. As a result, because we are concerned that the vital papers will fall into the hands of the AA, the junta army officials have transferred them to the Naval Headquarters.
The Navy can transport the documents to Yangon even if it is not safe to store them in the Dhanyawaddy Naval Headquarters.
The conflict is becoming more intense in the regions around the Malakyun and Kap Thapyay areas close to the Dhanyawaddy Naval Headquarters in the Thit Pote Taung area, as well as in the vicinity of the Pyine Say Kay near No. (32) Police Battalion and the Gone Chwain village tract.
The Dhanyawaddy Naval Base has also relocated some of the military council's family members in Kyaukphyu Township to the mainland, including Yangon and Pathein, and some Rakhine family members are still in Kyaukphyu's based battalions, according to local sources.
