Two bodies and a missing military council fighter jet have been discovered crashed close to the Thai border in Khemaphyu village, Hpa Saung Township, Baw La Khe District, Karenni State, a local revolutionary source told Narinjara.
The local military source stated that the debris of the fighter plane and two bodies were discovered on July 3 close to the hamlet of Khemaphyu in the township of Hpa Saung and are now being examined.
"Portions of the military council's aircraft were discovered in the vicinity of Khemaphyu village, Hpa Saung Township. They are now the subject of an investigation. Two bodies were discovered, and they were on fire. They are probably pilots," according to the local military official.
While en route to bomb Hpa Saung, the site of the conflict between the rebel forces and the military council, the aircraft crashed.
Since the Karenni revolutionary forces started an offensive on Hpa Saung on June 25, the military council has been carrying out airstrikes.
"While we were battling junta forces, the aircraft was bombing Hpa Saung. We're looking into whether it was caused by a gunshot or a mechanical breakdown," he said.
According to the military council's newspapers, which were published on July 3, the fighter jet that crashed on the night of July 1 disappeared from radar and lost contact while traveling 130 kilometers southeast of Nay Pyi Taw.
This is the fourth fighter jet of the military council that has crashed this year.
In Pale Township, Sagaing Region, another plane crashed on June 10. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) brought down a Chinese-made F-7 fighter plane during the fight for the Kan Daunt Camp, killing the pilot.
In the same vein, on May 20, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) opened fire on three military helicopters traveling to the 21st Military District in Bhamo, Kachin State, killing at least 18 troops, including the pilot, and destroying two Mi-17 helicopters.
