According to reports, the military council detained a group of young people, both men and women, at a bus stop in Yangon's Insein Township.
An eyewitness told Narinjara that the military council detained a group of young workers at the Pauk Taw Wa bus stop in Insein Township and drove them away in a car around 7 am on July 2.
The reason for the arrest is still unknown, but it is probable that it has something to do with the public service military law, which compels young people to serve in junta forces.
According to a witness, "They wait for the ferry or the bus to go to work in the morning. Additionally, there are some who are going to attend classes. All of those who were waiting for the bus were picked up in a military vehicle. I have no idea where they brought the detainees. I simply observed them. I was afraid, too, and ran away."
The military council has been wreaking havoc in Yangon lately, particularly in neighborhoods where factory workers reside, according to a Hlaing Tharyar Township resident who spoke to Narinjara. They are pretending to be locals and watching.
The junta members are often dressed in civilian attire. They are instructed to monitor places where employees reside. Young people are occasionally apprehended in groups. They are not frequently freed after being detained," he stated.
Members of the military council are waiting for young people at busy bus stops in civilian attire, Yangon locals told Narinjara.
Residents advised caution in travel patterns and vigilance towards ethnic groups, including Rakhine, who come to work in Yangon due to the difficult living circumstances back home.
The military council is seeking and detaining young men and women for military service as the number of troops on its side has decreased during the continuous combat in different parts of Myanmar.
