A young man in his twenties from Maubin, Ayeyarwady Region, was forcibly recruited and dispatched to the Arakan frontline after 45 days of training.

According to a family member who spoke to the Narinjara News, the young man was transported from Maubin to Oktwin in the Taungoo District for the 10th military training course.

"He was forcibly drafted into the military. There was not even a drawing of lots for him. They said there was an official letter of conscription for him and took him in for a medical examination while he was at home sick and sleeping. He didn't come back to his house. He received military training in Oktwin. He was dispatched to the Arakan frontline after 45 days of military training. His family is excessively concerned.”

A village elder visited Maung Myo Thant Zaw’s home after he was moved from Maubin to Oktwin and presented his family with 400,000 kyats as a subsidy for his military service.

"For being sent to military service, his parents received 400,000 kyat. What should I do with this money? Life is the most precious thing. The entire family is now in a state of anxiety and unable to eat or sleep. Be kind and compassionate towards this family. How would you feel if your own son was forcibly conscripted?”

Under the pretext of protecting the nation, the military council is forcibly conscripting the youths of ordinary citizens, but the children of warlord Min Aung Hlaing, the children of other generals and military leaders, and the children of government officials including ministers of the military council are not conscripted, and their children are exempted from the military service legislation.

"Now that he has been sent to the frontline, please help if there is a way to escape. I want you to tell the leaders of the AA to take him into custody, regardless of whether he manages to flee from the frontline or is caught. He was compelled to join the army against his will. His family is really concerned,” he stated.

It has been reported that the junta is revising the military service law, and it is forcibly recruiting young civilians into the army and dispatching them to the frontlines because there have been numerous losses and severe attrition of its troops during the ongoing People's Resistance War.
