According to sources, the military council has started making plans for the elections in Sittwe, Kyaukphyu, and Manaung, which are the only areas in Arakan (Rakhine) State under Junta control.
In Sittwe on the morning of July 7, the military council conducted a training session on the use of Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines (MEVM).
The training, which was conducted in Sittwe's U Ottama Hall under the direction of the Rakhine State Military Council Election Commission Sub-committee, was opened by U Htin Lin, the head of the Rakhine state military council, as reported by newspapers owned by the military council.
The Arakan Army is in charge of 14 of Rakhine State's 17 townships, and elections may only be held in Sittwe, Kyaukphyu, and Manaung. Because of this, many are curious to see how the elections will be conducted in these towns.
The two primary political parties vying for the upcoming state-level elections in Rakhine are the Rakhine National Party (RNP), which is headed by U Ba Shein, and the Arakan Front Party (AFP), which is led by Dr. Aye Maung.
According to reports, the Arakan National Party (ANP), a significant force in Arakan state that has previously won every state-level election, applied to the Military Council Election Commission to register as a party but was turned down.
