The fighting that had been paused for over a week resumed on Wednesday in three locations in Kyaukphyu Township, Arakan (Rakhine) State, where significant Chinese projects are located, according to reports.

Fighting has started up again in three locations: close to Praing Ce Kay, close to the No. (32) Police Battalion, around the Mala Kyun area, and close to Kap Tha Pyay Village in Thit Pote Taung, where the significant naval base "Dhanyawaddy" is located.

Since the morning of July 10, there has been a resurgence in the conflict between the Arakan Army (AA) and the military council forces in the three locations, according to a local man from Kyaukphyu.

"There has been no combat for more than a week. Let's say, since the beginning of July. It started again yesterday morning. The reason is that the military council has brought in a significant number of soldiers. The primary one is between Praing Ce Kay and Mala Kyun, which continued until 2 pm yesterday," he stated.

Narinjara was informed by a local lady that the fighting was accompanied by loud explosions from firearms and machine guns.

"It's been raining for over a week. We don't hear much gunfire from either side other than drone fire when it rains. The loud sound of machine guns is also audible today."

"Although the AA has ceased its offensive for more than a week after the conflict ended, the military council has used drones to shell some neighborhoods and routes that may be home to AA members. The areas were also bombarded by navies. Junta troops are using more heavy weapons than they were previously," a local man said.

"The military council is reinforcing. It is expanding its territory. It is using drones to lead the battle line. On the day of rest, it is firing weapons from drones and the navy," he stated.

Since the first week of July, the military council has also sent hundreds of troops from the mainland, including Yangon, to the Kyaukphyu battlefield via waterways.

These forces have been fortified in the battlefield areas, such as the No. (32) Police Battalion in the Gone Chwein area, Mala Kyun, and Kap Tha Pyay in the Thit Pote Taung area, which is now the front line of the conflict in Kyaukphyu Township, according to a resident of Kyaukphyu.
