On Monday, a speedboat transporting Chinese workers from a Chinese project capsized in the Kyaukphyu Township of Rakhine State, where the battle between junta forces and the Arakan Army (AA) is fierce. However, everyone onboard was saved.

A local man from Maday Island told Narinjara that the speedboat carrying two Chinese and two Myanmar workers overturned on Monday evening in the Maday Kyun River in Kyaukphyu Township and that they had to be rescued.

"It capsized on its way back to Maday Kyun from Kyaukphyu. Because they had life jackets, we were able to rescue them. There were four of them in all," he said.

The speedboat was carrying commodities to Maday Island, where China's oil and gas pipeline project is located, from Kyaukphyu.

Because of the high waves and the fact that the boat was not able to control its speed, the speedboat flipped over, and the military council's navy had to come to their rescue, according to a source.

"The military council navy, which was based close to the Ohn Kyin naval facility, responded with speedboats. After that, they were transported to the Ohn Kyin naval base. They were given medication and other treatment before being sent to Maday Island, he stated.

Maday Island is about a mile away from the Ohn Kyin naval base, and the military council has also established a strong security presence there.

Additionally, Chinese-made suicide drones and reconnaissance drones have been stationed at the naval bases in Kyauk Phyu to keep an eye on the activities of the local population and the Arakan Army (AA).
